NATIONAL POERTY PRIZE FOR HEALTH WORKERS WHO LOST THEIR LIVES DUE TO COVID 19

Eskisehir Odunpazarı Municipality and Eskişehir branch of Health and Social Workers ' Union (SES) are organizing a national poetry award on behalf of health workers who died in the covid epidemic. The deadline for those who want to participate in the Poetry Prize, which includes Odunpazarı Mayor Kazım Kurt, SES Eskişehir Branch co-chairman Birtürk Özkavak, Şükrü Erbaş, Rahmi Emeç, Betül Dünder, Ömer Asaf Tosun and Emel Irtem as the Selection Board, is July 2, 2021.

IT MUST BE PARTICIPATED WITH “BOOK-SIZED POETRY FILES”

For the poetry award, the protocol ceremony was held in the Office of Odunpazarı Mayor Kazım Kurt with the participation of Umut Özge Yılmaz and Birtürk Özkavak, Co-Presidents of the SES Eskişehir Branch. The award aims to make the qualified files that have not had the opportunity to become books and to bring new works to literature in memory of the medics who have lost their lives. In addition, the works that are nominated will be based on aesthetic language consciousness and contemporary worldview. Those who want to participate in this award can participate with “poetry files in book-sized”. In this award, Odunpazarı Mayor Kazım Kurt, SES Eskişehir Branch co-chairman Birtürk Özkavak, Şükrü Erbaş, Rahmi Emeç, Betül Dünder, Ömer Asaf Tosun and Emel Irtem will also take part as the jury. Files that will participate in the award must not have previously received an award in another competition. The first selected file will be printed in a thousand copies as a book. A hundred books will be given to the file owner as a plaque and copyright.

APPLICATION DEADLINE IS FRIDAY JULY 2 DAY

7 samples of the book or file that will participate in the award must be sent by the participant with a short resume and contact information. It must be sent to this address by shipping; Istiklal Neigborhood Şair Fuzuli Avenue No:29 Flat 4 Odunpazarı-Eskisehir  to the SES Eskisehir Branch. While files sent via the Internet are not evaluated, the selection committee will not be responsible for any negativity that may occur due to the shipping. The application will expire the end of the last working hour on Friday, July 2, 2021.  The results will be announced on 1 August 2021, the anniversary of the founding of the SES (Health and Social Workers ' Union). The date of the award ceremony will be announced later. Odunpazarı municipality employees and first-degree relatives of the members of the selection committee cannot participate in the award, the award will not be divided. Files that participate in the award will not be returned to their owners.

Odunpazarı Mayor Kazım Kurt, speaking at the protocol ceremony, said that 2020 is a year in which all Turkey's health workers should show their respect and love due to the COVID 19 outbreak. Many health workers experienced troubled days voicing President Kurt, " as the municipality of Odunpazarı, we are building a park in the Vadisehir district to show our respect and gratitude to the health workers. Is this enough or not enough, so we are organizing a poetry prize with the protocol we have made with the SES Eskisehir Branch. We want to immortalize the poems that participated in this award, which we will dedicate to the health workers who lost their lives, by books. I would like to thank the SES Eskişehir Branch and its managers for this cooperation. I call on all Turkey to participate in this award”.
 
"THE AWARD IS OPEN TO ALL POETRY WRITERS IN TURKEY”

Birtürk Özkavak, Co-Chairman of the SES Eskişehir Branch, said that they held the Poetry Award in order to commemorate about 400 health workers who died in the COVID 19 epidemic and to keep their cherished memories alive. Özkavak said, " it will not be possible to physically bring back the 400 health workers who lost their lives with these steps, but we are taking an important step to keep their memories alive in the literary world with poetry and to remember them until eternity. We know that our municipality of Odunpazarı supports literature. And I thank President Kurt once again for his cooperation on this issue. I think it will be a good reward for Eskisehir. I hope that we will start the first step of an award that will continue in later years. We are waiting for the works of all poetry lovers, poets”.

Expressing that we have had a very difficult year in 2020 as a country, Umut Özge Yılmaz, co-chairman of the SES Eskişehir Branch, stressed that health workers are experiencing extra difficulties. Yılmaz, who noted that more than 400 health workers lost their lives, noted that they made a lot of effort to regulate conditions and make their voices heard for 1 year as a voice. Yılmaz continued her speech: "We can't bring back what we lost, yes. But it's very meaningful to be able to organize such a reward on their behalf, to be able to carry them into eternity in this way and commemorate them.
